What is B.Arch?
B Arch or Bachelor of Architecture is a 5-year undergraduate architecture program that deals with the art and science of designing and constructing buildings. B Arch course allows students to become licensed and professional architects and work in professional settings.
Will I become a licensed Architect by studying B.Arch?
The license will be issued by the Council of Architecture (CoA). After completing the B.Arch. course you are eligible to apply for the license.
What are the architecture entrance exams in India?
There are 3 entrance exams for B.Arch. in India, they are NATA, JEE Paper 2 & AAT. Through NATA you can get admission to colleges in the state, through JEE paper 2 you can get admission to institutions like SPA & NIT and through AAT you can get admission to IITs.
Is science and maths in 11th and 12th mandatory for B.Arch.?
For studying B.Arch. in India, Science is not mandatory, but you have to Pass 10+2 or an equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics or a 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics as a subject.
What is the duration of the B.Arch. course?
B Arch is a 5 year bachelors degree program. It includes design projects, dissertation, internship and final year thesis.

What is NATA?
NATA or National Aptitude Test in Architecture is an examination that measures the applicant’s aptitude for an Architecture degree. NATA is one of the two qualifying exams (the other being JEE Paper 2) for candidates who want to do B.Arch in India.
How to apply for NATA?
Application is to be filled up ONLINE at the NATA portal of www.nata.in. Candidates need to visit the portal, generate username & password by entering basic details and then CLICK the requisite link.

What is the eligibility criteria to get admission into B.Arch (Architecture) in India?
As per Council of Architecture there are two criteria each candidate needs to fulfill:
Criteria 1: Qualifying exam
A pass in 10+2 or equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics (compulsory) and at least 45% marks in aggregate.
OR
A pass in 10+3 Diploma with Maths (compulsory) and at least 45% marks in aggregate.
Criteria 2: Aptitude Test
Qualify for an aptitude test in architecture conducted either by NTA (i.e. JEE) or NATA.
What is the eligibility for NATA?
- Any person who has completed their 10 + 2 examination with Physics and Mathematics or 10+ 3 Diploma with Mathematics as subject of study.
- The candidate must be at least 17 years old as of 31st Jan, last year.
When is the NATA exam conducted?
NATA has 3 sessions in a year. Mostly NATA exams are conducted in the month of April, June & July.
